 Cindy Yen Yong Lin
Cindy Yen (袁咏琳 – Yen Yong Lin) is a new female singer, come from classical music background. Cindy was born in Texas America, and start to learn Piano at 5 years and the violin at 10 years old. With her beautiful face and bright smile, Cindy Yen now is get her fame after her song “Hua Sha” duet with Jay Chou in her new album titled “Cindy”. The duet reminds us with another Jay Chou duet with beautiful women such as with Jing Sha in “Shan Hu Hai” and with Landy Wen in “Wu Ding”.

Although Jay singing a duet isn’t too surprising, but the surprising thing is that this song is composed by Cindy Yen; this will be the first time ever that Jay sings a song that isn’t composed by himself.

Cindy Yen’s parents are very strict and from young, her parents have set that she must practice piano for at leat 1 hour everyday. Her mom was very worried about her damaging her hands and would object to her going skating or taking part in outdoor activities with her classmates. When she started dating in university though, her first boyfriend was a fan of various kinds of sports and initially, she would just “follow her love” and cheer him on from the sidelines. In the end, she started to know those types of sports and her liking for sports was nurtured.
She humorously revealed that she originally secretly played ball behind her mother’s back and innocently thought that she was far away from the “emperor” and will not get discovered.

After she broke her little finger though, she ended up having to admit to playing sports. “I couldn’t not tell her cause its costly to see the doctor and my insurance is signed under my mom’s name.” Her mom sympathised with her and actually didn’t scold her. She thus fell even more deeply in love with sports and was even selected for the American football team.

After Cindy returned to Taiwan, she could bring along her precious music scores as her lucky items but her addiction to sports is hard to settle. Its hard for her to find a suitable location. Recently, she has been finding colleagues to go bowling with her and they secretly revealed that “She will use a 14 pound bowling ball. When she plays, she will appear very fierce and its really boyish like.”

Elva Hsiao, a Mandarin pop singer/songwriter, who was born in Taipei, Taiwan as Ya-Xuan Xiao, has become a household name among the Chinese community. Soon after she entered a talent competition, when she was just a student at a high school in Vancouver, British Colombia, she landed a deal with Virgin Records/EMI Taiwan. One year after her big break in Canada, Elva delivered her 1999 self-titled album which went platinum very quickly. The combination of her stunning beauty, clear voice and hip dance moves helped to propel her career.
The pressures of celebrity life came down hard, as she managed to make six albums in four years. In addition, Elva was hired for big brandname TV commercials, and put in plenty of hours in front of the cameras, making music videos to her upbeat dance songs or slow ballads, such as I Love You That Much (2001).

In 2004, after she had already participated in two movies, The Butterfly Lovers (voice) and Infernal Affairs, the record companies were desperate to sign the pop princess, while her contract with EMI was coming to an end. She eventually chose Warner Music in 2005, which ended up being a wrong career move, since the company underwent some major changes, subsequently leading to a never-ending delay to release her album. Her album had been postponed for such an unacceptable number of days that her fans had grown impatient and at one point many of them expressed their frustration on Warner’s Website forums, causing it to crash for a span of one week.
